Bruce R. Baumann, DDS, FAGD

Providing preventive, esthetic and advanced restorative dentistry to the Palm Desert area, Dr. Baumann believes that his dental patients deserve the finest and most advanced dentistry available today. He has received advanced training at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies completing the advanced Master Aesthetic Dentist program and is the only dentist in Palm Desert to do so.

Dr. Baumann has attained fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a long-standing member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry .

Dr. Baumann recently concluded post-graduate training at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in Nevada by completing the Master Aesthetic Dentist program. He is among only a handful of California dentists to have completed the training. Dr. Baumann has also studied Posterior Aesthetic Dentistry, Practical Occlusion, Anterior Composite Restorations, Advanced Orthodontics and TMJ at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Background

Dr. Baumann has been in practice in Palm Desert, California since 1982, and on staff at Eisenhower Medical Center for over 23 years. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine and earned his DDS at Georgetown University School of Dentistry. After receiving his degree, Dr. Baumann completed his residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital, specializing in hospital dentistry. In 1992 he became one of only four dentists in the Coachella Valley to attain fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Baumann remains very active in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, as well as the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Dr. Baumann currently practices preventive and cosmetic dentistry in Palm Desert.

Family

When Dr. Baumann isn’t busy at the practice you can usually find him busy with his wife of 30 years and their four children Chelsea 25, Nicholas 22, Palmer 18 and Makena 10.

Chelsea: graduated in 2004 from UT Austin with a degree in Biology.
Nick: is attending the NYU Dental School.
Palmer: is a freshman at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Makena: is in the 7th grade now at Sacred Heart School.

Golf • Personal Interests

After family and dentistry, Dr. Baumann’s interests include golf, golf and more golf. He travels nationwide to play in amateur golf events.

Our Hygienists

Mary Ellen is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She will put you at ease and answer all of your questions about the connections between oral health and overall well being. Mary Ellen has been serving our patients for over 20 years. She is especially up-to-date on the newest treatments and products available to you and is happy to share her expertise. Mary Ellen’s competent and caring manner is greatly appreciated by her patients who return year after year for her special touch. When relaxing at home she likes to spend time with her 12 year old son, Gus and Husband Kevin. Mary Ellen is also an avid reader.

Dena is a Registered Dental Hygienist originally from Michigan.  She began practicing dental hygiene after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2001.  Dena enjoys making sure that her patients feel comfortable and relaxed while using the latest techniques and technology to ensure the highest quality treatment possible.  Dena was recently married to her husband Mike.  She likes playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, and travelling.

Our Highly Trained Assistants

We are very proud of our staff of well-trained clinical assistants. They to are committed to learning the latest techniques of patient care. The assistants often travel with Dr. Baumann to continuing education classes throughout the country. These ladies attend on average more continuing education courses than most dentists in the country do.

Lorena is our head clinical assistant and is a Registered Dental Assistant with an Extended Function license. She attended an eight week course at UCLA to obtain her EF license. She is an expert in the fabrication of beautiful temporary restorations. While the laboratory is crafting your permanent restorations your temporaries will look great courtesy of Lorena’s artistic ability. Lorena also enjoys dental photography, traveling, shopping, and an occasional party! Lorena’s baby JO’seff will be celebrating his third birthday already.

Sabrina has been in our dental practice since February. She is a Registered Dental Assistant with Extended Functions. Sabrina has also been trained in Oral Surgery and has assisted with the doctor with patients that have been under sedation. Her dedication and kindness makes our patients feel very comfortable and at ease with her.
Sabrina acquired her dental education at the University of California Los Angeles and has 10 years of dental experience. Her hobbies are swimming, baking, gardening and being outside enjoying Mother Nature.

Lupe is the Office Manager for our practice. She has been with Dr. Baumann for the last 23 years. Lupe is an expert manager. She does our appointment scheduling and is an excellent resource for insurance questions and financial arrangements. When not working, Lupe enjoys reading and working in her garden.

 
Mercedes is our Hygiene Coordinator.  Mercedes worked in our office in 1999 for three years as a Dental Assistant to Dr. Baumann.  She  returned to our office  as our Hygiene Coordinator this year, helping our hygienists maintain your beautiful smile by scheduling regular cleaning appointments.  She now has a wonderful family with her husband Josh, and stays busy with her three young children, Jacob 7, Justin 4, and Jesselyn 5.  Her hobbies are spending time with her children and exercising.
